Canadian Hallmarks Institute Team Recommends Covenant Christian School Receive Accreditation

Background:
The Canadian Hallmarks Institute (CHI) Accreditation Program is a service available to independent schools to assist them in continuously improving their services. After a process of self-study and audit review, the CHI accreditation process verifies that accredited schools meet standards of high quality.

Covenant Christian School in Smithville recently hosted three CHI accreditators. for a full day.  The site visit followed an in-depth self evaluation of every facet of the school’s organization and an externalthe subsequent audit of that self-evaluation.e local report which deemed the school was ready to apply for accreditation.  This visit marks the third step towards accreditation and Covenant Christian is excited to here that tThe CHI Accreditation Team intends to recommend unanimously that the Canadian Hallmarks Institute grant the school Covenant Christian School its accreditation.

Covenant Christian School in Smithville recently completed the accreditation process that involved three rounds of in-depth audits of every facet of the school’s organization. They were very pleased to hear that the CHI Review Team intends to unanimously recommend that the Canadian Hallmarks Institute grant Covenant Christian School its accreditation.

“It has been a very rigorous exercise,” said Board Chair Richard Hoiting, “the folks from CHI looked at every aspect of our organization – the quality of our curriculum, our financial status, our human resources policies and many other areas. It was a very thorough process.”

Dr. Linda Williams, an audit team leader fromAccreditation Coordinator for Canadian Hallmarks Institute, explained that there are six five domains that their organization considers when recommending accreditation be approved. “Covenant Christian School performed very well in all of these areas. Naturally there are some recommendations we will be making so that they can continue to improve, but this is a very well-run school,” remarked Dr. Williams.

“It was very gratifying to hear that we will be recommended for accreditation,” said Kamphuis. “It is a validation that parents that who choose Covenant for their children are participating in a very solid organization. Our current families should find that reassuring, and prospective families will be able to take some comfort in hearing that verdict from an outside organization.”

Accreditation will mean that Covenant will be subject to ‘spot checks’ at various times over the next five years, at which point it will be necessary to go through the entire process again to maintain their accredited status.
