Christian Schools Have New Board Chair

The Niagara Association for Christian Education (NACE) has a new Board Chair in place for the coming school year. Donna Feddema stepped into the role at the May Board meeting, and has a very positive sense of what the next twelve months will bring. “NACE is at an exciting and challenging point in it’s history,” Mrs. Feddema pointed out. “With renovated facilities at John Knox and new families joining us, there is much to feel positive about. Nonetheless there are fewer younger students, a challenge many schools in the area face. That is wonderful in terms of class size, but we need to ensure that we are able to live within the budget our supporters approve and the funds they provide.”
NACE provides Christian education to students from Junior Kindergarten to grade eight at the Covenant Christian School in Smithville and the John Knox Christian School in Stoney Creek. Its students come from East Hamilton, Grimsby, Beamsville, West Lincoln, and Binbrook. The schools are operated by a Board of volunteers, drawn largely from the parents of students in the schools.
“We are constantly challenging ourselves to provide excellent Christian education that meets and or exceeds Ministry of Education standards,” says Mrs. Feddema, “and providing leadership with that goal in mind is the role of the Board. I’m looking forward to the task at hand.”
