“How I Spent My Summer Vacation...”
This common first-day-of-school assignment would have brought an interesting response if it had been assigned to Covenant Christian School teacher Diana Brunsveld. Ms. Brunsveld spent her summer in some of the less prosperous areas of South Africa, visiting schools and leading seminars for teachers.
Impressed with the positive approach to life she witnessed among the students and families she met, Diana came home with more than just some interesting artifacts of South African culture, she also returned with a renewed commitment to help her students here “Live for Jesus, Learn for Life and Serve With Gladness”, as the NACE (Niagara Association for Christian Education) mission statement phrases it.
Diana is also looking for ways to have our schools partner with the schools she visited, to broaden our students’ experience and provide assistance to the schools in South Africa.
