Local Educators Teach Kids Valuable lesson in Giving Back
Two Ontario schools and their students teamed up recently, to hold their seventh annual food drive event. Operated under The Niagara Association for Christian Education (NACE), John Knox Christian School out of Stoney Creek and Covenant Christian School out of Smithville, urged students, parents and even teachers to collect food items to give to those in need, “Our school is one that wants to interact with our community.” Said Tony Kamphuis, NACE Executive Director of Admissions, “This food drive teaches our students that we are part of something bigger than ourselves, it teaches them love and compassion in a tangible way.”
All the food items were collected by the Smithville and Area Lions Club and will be distributed by West Lincoln Community Care, a non profit organization that works to meet the needs of the poor in the community. “Food really started piling up in the classrooms,” said Kamphuis, “The kids have been great in supporting this cause.”
