Learning in the Classroom …and Beyond
John Knox has a broad Mission Statement. It seeks to help students “Live for Jesus, Learn for Life, Serve With Gladness”. That has implications for our learning in the classroom and beyond. At John Knox there are a range of extra-curricular activities that are used to broaden the education experience of our students. In terms of athletics our students participate in volleyball, cross-country, basketball, hockey, track and field, softball, and soccer. Other extra-curricular activities include regular whole-school assemblies, students council events, a Fine Arts Festival with a wide range of activities, a Science Fair, a band program, and our annual Spring Musical. This year our musical is going to be a combined performance with our sister school, Covenant Christian School in Smithville, and it will be Handel’s Messiah for Young Children. The sounds of the Hallelujah Chorus are already echoing down the halls as we begin preparations for our performance on April 30th at Mountainview Christian Reformed Church in Grimsby. Stop by for a wonderful, free event!
God certainly had diversity in mind when He created human beings. That means every student in our school is seen as a special creation of a loving God. It also means we want our John Knox students to have the opportunity to develop the gifts God has given each one. Whether in the classroom or outside it, we want to help each one “Live for Jesus, Learn for Life, and Serve With Gladness!”
